History

Historical Context

In the 2015-16 Premier League, Leicester City, managed by Claudio Ranieri, turned a 5,000-to-1 underdog into champions, clinching the title on 2 May 2016 with 81 points. The season featured Jamie Vardy’s record 11-game scoring streak and Riyad Mahrez’s historic PFA Players’ Player award, underscoring the club’s first top-flight title in its 111-year history. Their shock win prompted the league to scrutinize financial-fair-play compliance.
