History

Historical Context

The NBA’s 2017 collective bargaining agreement introduced two-way contracts, letting teams keep up to two players who split time between the NBA and its G League while paying a higher G League salary. The Lakers used the rule that season, signing Alex Caruso to a $50,000 two-way deal. In the 2023-24 season the Knicks waived Kevin McCullar Jr. to free a slot for Dalton Knecht, following roster-flex strategy.
