History

Historical Context

In 2000-01 the English Premiership, newly sponsored by Zurich Insurance, introduced a four-try bonus-point system. Leicester Tigers seized the change, topping the league for a third straight year and claiming their fifth English title while also winning the inaugural Zurich Championship. The bonus-point rule still drives clubs to prioritize attacking depth in today’s matches.
