Drive-by Shooting Injures Four Outside Logan Boxing Event

By Drooid · · How we work

Incident Overview

On Saturday evening, a Mitsubishi vehicle pulled into the passenger drop-off zone outside Fitzy’s Loganholme, a venue hosting a boxing night south of Brisbane. Police say two men wearing balaclavas and gloves were inside the car and fired several shots through the front window, striking four people gathered nearby. The attack occurred at approximately 8:18 p.m. and was captured on nearby CCTV.

Victims and Ongoing Investigation

The victims include a 19-year-old woman from Jimboomba who sustained head and neck injuries and remains in critical condition after surgery. Three men—aged 38, 37 and 27—from Browns Plains, Salisbury and Cornubia, respectively, were shot in the abdomen (and one also in the arm) and are in serious but stable condition following surgery. Police launched a manhunt for at least three suspects, one of whom is believed to have been injured and set the Mitsubishi ablaze on Maloney Road in Waterford West. A second vehicle was later identified on CCTV as having collected the occupants after the fire. Detectives have not linked the shooting to organised crime at this stage.

Official Reactions

Detective Inspector Ian Galpin described the incident as “horrific” and emphasized that the 19-year-old woman was an “innocent bystander.” Logan mayor Jon Raven told the *Today* show that the shooting has sent a shock wave through the community, noting that families were present and that the event will have lasting effects on children who witnessed it. Queensland Police Deputy Commander Chris Stream called the scene “confronting,” while Logan City Titles expressed that they were “heartbroken” by the attack on a family-friendly community event.
