History

Historical Context

Manchester United’s 1999 treble, secured by Alex Ferguson’s side after a 33-game unbeaten run, set a benchmark that still defines expectations for the club. The triumph sparked a massive 500,000-person city parade and earned £12 million in UEFA prize money. Today, United’s search for a new manager echoes fears of a post-treble decline, while Bournemouth’s surprise 3-0 win at Old Trafford adds fresh pressure.
