History

Historical Context

In 2016, the explosive “Access Hollywood” tape released by NBC showed Donald Trump describing women as “objects you could grab,” igniting nationwide outrage. The two-minute video, hosted by Billy Bush, attracted 2.5 million viewers and caused Trump’s poll rating to slip 13 percent, according to Quinnipiac. Echoing that episode, Trump’s 2026 Youngstown and Circleville rallies again fixated on Ohio Senator Jon Husted’s backside, prompting Vice President JD Vance and the Republican National Committee to distance themselves. The pattern demonstrates how vulgar personal attacks repeatedly reshape media narratives and force party leaders into rapid damage-control.
