Isak Threatens Defences

Alexander Isak has scored six league goals this season, averaging nearly one per game, second only to Erling Haaland.
He arrived in August 2025 for a British record £125 million transfer fee.
He missed the latter half of the 2025-26 season with a broken leg and scored only four goals.
Manager Andoni Iraola said Isak’s threat will worry every top-flight side if he keeps this form.

History

Historical Context

Manchester City’s £100 million purchase of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa in August 2021 broke the British transfer record and gave him the iconic number 10 shirt vacated by Sergio Agüero. The landmark deal triggered a surge in Premier League spending, prompting clubs such as Liverpool and Newcastle to pursue similarly costly signings in the following years.
