History

Historical Context

By 1991 the Army football team, still an NCAA independent, posted a 4-7 record under new coach Bob Sutton and suffered a 24-3 defeat to arch-rival Navy, a game that traditionally caps the college season. That longstanding Army-Navy rivalry, rooted in championships won in 1944-46, provides the historic backdrop for the 2026 Fox Sports tribute.
