History

Historical Context

On December 3, 1950, the New York Giants beat the Chicago Cardinals 31-28, becoming the first NFL team with four different rushers each scoring a touchdown. That season, Giants quarterback Charlie Conerly threw for 2,001 yards, while the team amassed 3,500 total offensive yards, a league-leading figure. Today, J.J. McCarthy threw 20-of-28 for 252 yards, and four Giants rushers, led by Devin Singletary, matched the 1950 four-rusher milestone in overtime versus Houston. The recurrence underscores the Giants’ enduring rushing versatility, prompting coach Brian Daboll to emphasize multi-back schemes as a cornerstone of New York’s future offensive strategy.
