Fatal Shooting of Erdem Mustafa in Enfield
On the evening of October 19, 35-year-old Erdem Mustafa was shot dead at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Hertford Road in the London borough of Enfield. Detectives described the incident as a targeted attack. The victim’s death has prompted a large-scale police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Investigation and Suspects
Metropolitan Police officers have identified a primary suspect, 35-year-old Abreham Woldegiworgis, an Ethiopian national with connections to north-London, Haringey and Brixton. CCTV footage shows the suspect wearing a grey beanie and a bright orange wig; police say he has since “significantly altered his appearance.” A second individual, a 23-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and remains in custody.
Police Statements and Public Appeal
Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo said the force remains committed to securing justice for Mustafa and is continuing inquiries at pace. Scotland Yard has issued an appeal for anyone with information—such as additional CCTV, doorbell, dash-cam or mobile-phone footage—to contact police. Officers have also warned the public not to approach the suspect directly while the investigation proceeds.
Ongoing Efforts and Next Steps
The Metropolitan Police continue to trace Woldegiworgis and are urging anyone who recognises him or has knowledge of his whereabouts to come forward. The investigation remains active, with further inquiries expected as new evidence emerges.
