Disability Access Concerns
- A roughly 1-km stretch of London’s Oxford Street was closed to motor vehicles, taxis, bicycles and scooters on Monday, 26 October 2026.
- Officials say the pedestrianisation starts a £150 million, multi-year regeneration to create jobs, boost growth and restore Oxford Street’s world-class retail status, Mayor Sadiq Khan said.
- Transport for London will enforce the ban with barriers, signage and geo-fencing.
- Disability advocates warn bus stops and taxi ranks may not serve disabled shoppers.
