History

Historical Context

In February 2009 Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer in a five-set, 4-hour-23-minute Australian Open final, becoming the first Spaniard to win the tournament and his first hard-court major. That landmark match, celebrated for its midnight finish, is cited as a model for the upcoming Las Vegas MGM Slam at T-Mobile Arena, where Nadal will headline a U.S. exhibition.
