History

Historical Context

In July 2009 Tony Blair left politics to become a visiting professor at Harvard Kennedy School, where the university pledged $2 million for the Blair Global Leadership Initiative that admits 120 graduate students each year. That move echoes his 2008-09 Yale fellowship and follows a broader pattern of former heads of government, such as New Zealand’s ex-prime minister Jacinda Ardern, joining university faculties to shape future policymakers.
