History

United currently sit 16th, one point above the drop after a 3-0 loss to Bournemouth, echoing their 1986 crisis. In November 1986, after finishing 21st and being relegated, the club hired Alex Ferguson, who lifted United to an 11th-place finish that season. The parallel shows how a managerial change once rescued United from relegation and laid groundwork for future dominance.
