History

Historical Context

In 1975 Bud Grant’s Vikings finished 12-2, allowing the fewest points in the NFL and anchoring the ‘Purple People Eaters’ line of Alan Page, Carl Eller and Jim Marshall. That defense led the league in fewest points and yards for a second straight year and reached the NFC Championship. The franchise now points to that legacy as a model for sustaining playoff contention.
