Reporters Called Obnoxious

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday he may move the White House press corps to a different location.

The proposal follows recent court battles over his bans on three news outlets.

History

Historical Context

In June 1971 the Supreme Court rejected Nixon’s effort to enjoin the Pentagon Papers, issuing a 6-3 ruling that reinforced the First Amendment’s strong presumption against prior restraint. The decision relied on earlier precedents such as Near v. Minnesota (1931). President Donald Trump’s 2023 threats to move the White House press corps and revoke media passes revive the same constitutional conflict.
