History

Historical Context

In 1996 the New York Jets finished 1-15, prompting Leon Hess to dismiss coach Rich Kotite. Bill Parcells was hired, leading the team to a 9-7 rebound in 1997 and a 12-4 division title in 1998. The 2026 Jets, now 2-5, echo that earlier collapse as the franchise again searches for a new head coach.
