History

Historical Context

CBSE introduced the All-India Secondary School Examination to provide a single, nation-wide board test for Class 10, replacing fragmented state exams. The 2020 National Education Policy pushed CBSE toward competency-based questions, and in 2021 the board split exams into two terms after COVID disruptions. Today the AISSE serves about 45 lakh students and is scored out of 500 marks.
