History

Historical Context

After a 7-9 finish in 2016 – the first year Doug Pederson and rookie Carson Wentz took over – the Eagles rebounded to a 13-3 record and a Super Bowl LII title in 2017. The 2026 five-game skid and Hurts’ lung-clot injury echo the franchise’s earlier cycles of collapse and subsequent roster overhauls that eventually produced championship success.
