History

Historical Context

After the Glazer family completed a £790 million leveraged takeover in June 2005—prompting protests, the formation of F.C. United of Manchester and a £660 million debt load—the club issued a £500 million bond in 2010. Today, an eight-game winless streak has revived those tensions, with owners Joel and Avram Glazer, investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe and former captain Michael Carrick entering emergency talks.
