Summary

Seattle Seahawks acquired eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts.
The trade sent Indianapolis a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick.
Seattle will cover the remaining $9.78 million of Nelson’s 2026 salary, leaving $9.77 million prorated on its cap.
Nelson allowed zero sacks and six pressures in 275 pass-blocking snaps this season, ranking among the league’s top guards.

Summary

Analyst Adam Schefter says defensive tackle DeForest Buckner is the next likely Colts trade target.
If Buckner signs elsewhere, Indianapolis would receive at most a fifth-round compensatory draft pick.
The 2026 NFL trade deadline is November 10.
Jacksonville Jaguars are rumored to pursue Buckner, potentially reuniting him with former teammate Arik Armstead.
Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers have also shown interest in Buckner as the Colts shop the veteran.

History

In 1992 Green Bay Packers GM Ron Wolf traded Atlanta’s 17th-overall first-round pick for quarterback Brett Favre, a move that proved pivotal as Favre led the Packers to a 13-3 season and two Super Bowls. That high-value veteran exchange set a template for later deals, such as teams swapping future draft assets for proven starters to extend competitive windows.
