Ripple-Robinhood Deal Expands RLUSD Use
On October 27, 2026, Ripple announced a partnership with Robinhood that places the company’s dollar-pegged stablecoin RLUSD at the core of Robinhood’s institutional settlement, treasury management, and financing operations. The agreement covers three Ripple products:
- RLUSD – used to settle institutional trades on the XRP Ledger through Bitstamp, the exchange Robinhood acquired in 2024.
- Ripple Treasury – integrated into Robinhood’s finance function to automate cash-flow forecasting, payments, risk controls, and intercompany netting.
- Ripple Prime – a prime-brokerage service that will provide lending and margin financing for roughly 20 digital assets on Bitstamp.
RLUSD is already live on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp and is slated to appear in the Robinhood app later in 2026.

Background: OCC Trust Bank and BNY Partnership
Earlier in the week, Ripple received final approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to launch a national trust bank. The charter permits Ripple to provide fiduciary digital-asset custody, manage the reserves backing RLUSD, and act as a collateral trustee, but it does not allow the company to take deposits or make commercial loans.
BNY (formerly BNY Mellon) serves as the primary reserve custodian for RLUSD and has broadened its collaboration with Ripple to support tokenized trade-finance use cases on the XRP Ledger. The bank plans to enable its clients to mint and redeem RLUSD directly through its digital-asset custody platform.

The partnership outlines plans for RLUSD minting and redemption through BNY, but the exact timeline and eligibility criteria for institutional clients have not been disclosed.
