Murder Conviction at Winchester Crown Court

Marcin Buryta, 32, was found guilty of murdering 45-year-old Piotr Pruszak at Buryta’s residence on Conifer Road, Coxford, Southampton. The jury heard that Buryta shot Pruszak four times with a Glock pistol that incorporated 3D-printed components during a break-in on February 11. Police and paramedics arrived shortly before 8 p.m.; Pruszak was pronounced dead just before 8:45 p.m. Buryta had previously admitted two firearm-possession charges and one count of possessing ammunition with intent. He told the court he kept weapons for protection and acted out of fear for his life.

Official Police Response

Detective Chief Inspector Clair Trueman, the senior investigating officer, said the investigation had focused on establishing the events in Buryta’s home on the night of the murder and on illustrating Buryta’s “obsession with weaponry.” Trueman added that any loss of life is a tragedy and expressed sympathy for Pruszak’s family, emphasizing that such violent acts have no place in the community and will be met with thorough police work.
