01

U.S. Launch Details

Samsung Electronics announced that the Galaxy Buds On will be sold in the United States beginning November 6 2026. The earbuds are offered in a single black color for a retail price of $229 USD. The launch follows a South Korean debut on October 27 2026, where the product was released for the domestic market at 299,000 won (? $225). U.S. listings cite the same price point, and pre-orders opened in early November with shipping slated for “early November.”

02

Design and Technical Specs

The Galaxy Buds On adopt a clip-on, open-ear architecture that rests on the outer ear. Each earbud weighs 6.65 g and incorporates a flexible, shape-memory-alloy band. Samsung reports that the design was refined using more than 119 million ear-scan data points, AI-assisted optimization, and physics-based simulations.

Audio performance is driven by an 11.3 mm TwinBoost speaker that combines two woofers. The earbuds are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform and a Class-D amplifier, enabling up to 9.5 hours of music playback on a single charge. With the charging case, total listening time extends to 38 hours; talk time is rated at 5.5 hours per charge, or 25 hours with the case. Battery capacities are listed as 61 mAh for each earbud and 530 mAh for the case.

The devices carry an IP54 rating for dust resistance and light rain. Connectivity uses Bluetooth 6.2 and supports Samsung’s Seamless Codec (SSC UHQ), AAC, SBC, and LC3. Three microphones plus a bone-conduction Voice Pickup Unit feed Samsung’s Intelligent Clear Call algorithm, which applies machine-learning filters trained on ambient sounds.

Ecosystem Integration and AI Features

When paired with compatible Galaxy smartphones running One UI 8.5 or later, the Buds On unlock several hands-free functions:

  • Audio Leakage Reduction – projects reversed sound waves from the rear of the speaker to limit sound escaping.
  • Auto Volume – dynamically adjusts playback based on ambient noise.
  • Gemini Live – voice-activated access to Google’s Gemini AI via “Hey Google, let’s talk live.”
  • Quick Voice Memo – long-press a bud to record a note, searchable through Bixby.
  • Head Gestures – nod to answer calls, shake to decline, and dismiss alarms or notifications (requires One UI 9.0 or later).

The earbuds automatically switch audio between Galaxy devices but do not support true multipoint Bluetooth for non-Samsung hardware.

04

Pricing and Market Position

At $229, the Galaxy Buds On sit at the higher end of the clip-on segment. Comparable models include Sony’s LinkBuds Clip ($229.99), Shokz OpenDots 2 ($199.95), and Bose Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) ($299). Samsung’s press release confirms the $229 price.

05

Official Statements & Responses

Samsung highlighted the product’s focus on “always-on listening” and situational awareness, emphasizing the TwinBoost speaker, Audio Leakage Reduction, and integration with the Galaxy AI ecosystem as differentiators from its in-ear Galaxy Buds line.
