History

On November 8 1994, the Republican Revolution, driven by Newt Gingrich’s Contract with America, gave the GOP a 54-seat House gain and its first majority since 1952. The campaign framed Bill Clinton as a “tax-and-spend” liberal, energizing Ohio voters. Echoing that play, Donald Trump repeated false Somali-American claims at an October 28 2026 Chillicothe rally, showing how incendiary messaging from 1994 still shapes Ohio GOP strategy.
