History

Operation Cast Lead, Israel’s 27 December 2008-18 January 2009 offensive, killed more than 1,100 Palestinians and 13 Israeli soldiers, illustrating the high civilian toll of precision strikes. The October 2026 IDF raid that eliminated Hamas intelligence officer Mohammed Halawa and engineer Ahmed Abu-Odeh, while injuring civilians at Shifa Hospital, follows the same pattern of targeted killings amid ongoing blockade and cease-fire failures.
