01
Core Announcement
At the company’s National Conference in Nashville, eClinicalWorks co-founder and CEO Girish Navani introduced version 12.04 of its electronic health-record (EHR) platform. The update, branded “Canvas for Care” or “Smart Canvas,” consolidates patient data, AI-generated summaries, recommended actions and task lists into a single workspace. eClinicalWorks also launched an AI Workbench for building custom AI agents and announced two new business units targeting inpatient care and pharmacy management.
02
Strategy to Democratize AI
Navani framed the rollout as part of a “democratizing AI” strategy aimed at smaller, independently owned practices. He noted that the company can absorb the cost of many AI capabilities because it is privately held.

Navani said the new Smart Canvas and the conversational tool healowIQ will be provided at no additional charge to existing subscribers. The AI Workbench will follow a consumption-based pricing model, with initial usage credits offered.

03
Expected Impact on Efficiency
Navani projects that practices upgrading to version 12.04 could see a 30 percent improvement in efficiency within a quarter of implementation. Internal benchmarks in revenue-cycle management have shown higher gains, though he cautioned that these results do not guarantee comparable outcomes for all users.
04
Scale and Financial Outlook
eClinicalWorks expects combined revenue from its core EHR business and patient-engagement subsidiary healow to exceed $1.3 billion in 2026, with healow alone projected to generate $175 million. The company reports a 12 percent annual growth rate and supports more than 1 million medical professionals across 180 000 provider organizations, primarily independent physician practices, federally qualified health centers, urgent-care facilities and hospital systems.
05
Expansion Into New Care Settings
The conference unveiled an AI-native inpatient EHR for smaller community and critical-access hospitals, and an integrated pharmacy management platform developed with East Georgia Healthcare Center. Four hospitals have committed to early implementation, and at least 25 additional prospects have expressed interest. Navani estimates roughly 2 000 U.S. hospitals fall within the target market segment.
For the pharmacy side, the platform links inventory, prescription processing, electronic prior authorizations and 340B compliance to the patient record, and incorporates the healow Genie AI contact center. Navani aims to have 100 pharmacies using the system within the next year.
06
Implementation Timeline
The company plans to begin rolling out the new capabilities in November. Existing customers will start upgrading to version 12.04 on January 15, 2027. A spokesperson indicated that 92-93 percent of eClinicalWorks’ cloud customers are currently on version 12.03, and most users operate in the cloud.
07
Why It Matters
By offering advanced AI tools at no extra cost to smaller practices, eClinicalWorks seeks to narrow the AI adoption gap documented in recent surveys—where 86 percent of system-affiliated hospitals used predictive AI in 2025 versus only 37 percent of independent hospitals. If the projected 30 percent efficiency gain materializes, the rollout could reshape workflow design for a large segment of U.S. health-care providers that have struggled to integrate AI into everyday operations.
