Celebration on Paseo de la Reforma
On the scheduled date of October 28, organizers expect more than 100,000 fans to line Mexico City’s Paseo de la Reforma for a free exhibition run by Sergio Perez. The route will run from the Diana the Huntress Fountain to the Angel of Independence, where the driver will display a Formula Two-adapted car, perform tire-smoking doughnuts and stop to greet the crowd. A parade of Cadillac road cars from different eras will precede the F1-style run, and Perez will appear in a race suit with red, white and green sleeves echoing the Mexican flag. The event is organized by Cadillac, the Mexico City Grand Prix and the city government, and serves as a pre-race celebration ahead of Perez’s 300th Grand Prix start later that weekend.
02
Background and Recent Milestones
The 36-year-old Mexican, a six-time Grand Prix winner, has staged three prior street exhibitions in Mexico: a Sauber run in Guadalajara (2011), a Red Bull-backed appearance on Reforma in 2021, and a hometown drive in 2022. After missing the 2025 Mexican Grand Prix during a season away from Formula One, Perez returned in 2026 with Cadillac. The team announced a multi-year contract extension that will keep him with Cadillac at least through 2029. His teammate Valtteri Bottas was also invited to the event, drawing cheers with a Spanish-language shout-out about tacos.

Official Statements & Responses
City officials emphasized the event’s role in promoting national pride and tourism, while organizers describe the crowd figure as an estimate based on the ticket-free nature of the gathering.
04
Public Reception
Fans of all ages gathered along the boulevard, with many climbing barriers, trees and monuments for a better view. Virginia Cano, a 62-year-old longtime supporter, praised Perez’s impact beyond racing, calling him a “world-class competitor” and “an excellent person.” Younger spectators expressed admiration for his perseverance, noting that his “never give up” attitude has made him a national hero.
