01

Election-Related Trading Activity Under Scrutiny

On the day Israel’s general election was held (October 27, 2026), a surge of newly created Polymarket accounts placed bets that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would remain in office and that his Likud party would win the most seats. According to a Bloomberg News report cited by Reuters on October 29, the timing of these wagers allowed many of the accounts to become profitable almost immediately after exit polls indicated that Likud had outperformed early projections. The report notes that some of the accounts have already cashed out over $100,000, while numerous other wallets retain sizable unrealized gains.

02

Polymarket’s Internal Review

Polymarket’s internal investigative team told Bloomberg that it is reviewing “dozens of newly created wallets” that traded on the election. The operator’s review focuses on accounts that were funded for the first time on election day and that posted large, rapid gains. Polymarket has not concluded whether the activity constitutes insider trading, emphasizing that distinguishing illicit behavior from legitimate research or fortunate speculation can be difficult.

03

Data-Analysis Firms Flag the Activity

Independent analytics firms Polysights and Bubblemaps have also flagged the trading pattern as suspicious. A Bubblemaps representative reported that 101 Polymarket accounts received their initial funding on election day, before polls closed. Both firms are conducting separate investigations to determine whether the trades were based on non-public information.

04

Growing Regulatory Focus on Prediction Markets

The episode arrives amid broader scrutiny of prediction-market platforms. Bloomberg and other industry observers have highlighted a sharp increase in trading volumes and a corresponding rise in flagged trades across platforms such as Polymarket and Kalshi. Reuters noted that in May 2026 Polymarket reported a significant uptick in trades flagged as suspicious for the year. Regulators and market participants alike are watching these developments to assess the need for tighter oversight of potential insider-trading risks in the rapidly expanding prediction-market sector.
