High-Speed Chase on the M56 Leads to Multiple Arrests

On the afternoon of October 26, police were alerted to a hit-and-run involving a white BMW 3 Series on St Oswalds Way in Chester city centre. Minutes later the same BMW was reported to be pursuing a black Mercedes along Hoole Road. Over the next fifteen minutes the two vehicles were observed travelling at excessive speeds on the M56 eastbound near junction 11, with the Mercedes’ boot reported open and a tyre missing. Both cars eventually stopped on the hard shoulder, and two men were seen fleeing on foot into nearby woodland.

Cheshire Police arrested three men in connection with the incident: a 19-year-old and a 62-year-old from Chester on suspicion of vehicle theft, and a 35-year-old from Stalybridge, Manchester on suspicion of dangerous driving. All three were released on unconditional bail pending further investigation.
