Peacock Raises Subscription Prices for Fourth Time in Four Years

8/18/2026, 7:48:54 PM

Peacock Announces New Pricing Structure

NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock will raise its monthly fees for all tiers. The ad-supported Peacock Premium tier will move to $12.99, up from $10.99. Peacock Premium Plus will increase to $19.99, a $3 rise from $16.99. The lower-cost Peacock Select tier will climb to $8.99 from $7.99. The changes will take effect for new and returning customers in mid-August and will apply to existing accounts later in September, depending on each subscriber’s billing cycle.

Background: Profitability and Prior Increases

Peacock turned its first quarterly profit in the second quarter of 2026, marking a milestone after two years of losses. The service has raised its subscription price annually since its launch in July 2020, with the most recent adjustment occurring in July 2025. This pattern mirrors broader industry trends, as most major streaming platforms—including Netflix, HBO Max, Apple TV, Paramount+ and YouTube Premium—have also increased fees over the past two years.

Subscriber Base and Pricing Details

At the end of June, Peacock reported 48 million paid subscribers, adding a net 2 million during the quarter. The Premium and Premium Plus tiers grant access to a large sports portfolio that includes NFL Sunday Night Football, the NBA, WNBA, Premier League, college football and basketball, as well as special events such as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and NBC’s 100th-anniversary celebration. Peacock Select offers current and past seasons of NBC and Bravo series but excludes movies, live sports and Peacock originals. Current content highlights include the film “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” the series “The Five-Star Weekend,” and unscripted titles like “The Traitors” and “Love Island USA.”

Implications for the Streaming Market

The price hikes come as the streaming sector faces rising content costs and intensified competition. By modestly increasing fees across all tiers, Peacock aims to sustain its recent profitability while continuing to fund sports rights and original programming. The adjustments also align Peacock with the pricing levels of its rivals, potentially influencing subscriber decisions in a market where price sensitivity remains high.
