IMD Delays Monsoon
- India’s Meteorological Department (IMD) says the Southwest Monsoon will begin withdrawing from West Rajasthan around September 19, 2026.
- The all-India monsoon rainfall deficit stood at 15% as of September 13, 2026.
- Meghalaya recorded the largest deficit, about 59% below normal, according to IMD data.
- Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Punjab and Bihar faced deficits of 43%, 42%, 40% and 35% respectively.
- The expected withdrawal start is two days later than the usual September 17 onset.
