Trump’s Second-Term Oval Office Replica Unveiled at The People’s House

Updated Design Mirrors the President’s Current Décor
The People’s House museum near Pennsylvania Avenue has finished a second-term makeover of its Oval Office replica, reflecting the “flashier and more golden” design choices President Donald Trump installed in the real West Wing. The updated space features gleaming vases, gold-hued swirling onlays, and roughly two dozen portraits in gilded frames that line the walls, reproducing the rococo flourishes Trump added during his tenure. Crews used a paint solution rather than actual gold leaf to protect the finishes from visitor wear, according to managing director Luke Boorady.
Craftsmanship and Materials
A team of 25 specialized designers worked from early Monday through late Friday, completing the finishing touches on Saturday. Experts from North Carolina recreated wall appliqués, while a specialist from Indianapolis handled 3D scanning and printing of smaller objects. Frame-makers in California carved the gold frames for the portraits, and collaborators in Canada and Virginia produced replicas of vases and tabletop pieces. The replica also includes two mirrors, a copy of the Declaration of Independence, and a copy of the Resolute Desk that presidents have used since 1880.
Exhibit Background and Funding
The White House Historical Association opened the original Oval Office duplicate in September 2024, initially mirroring President Joe Biden’s design. After the 2024 election, the exhibit was updated to match Trump’s first-term style, and the latest renovation now reflects his second-term aesthetic. The Association, founded in 1961 by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, receives no government funding and relies on private donations and merchandise sales. It declined to disclose the cost of the latest replica overhaul.
Official Statements & Responses
When asked whether President Trump might revisit the replica, Boorady said he does not know but added that Trump is “always welcome.”
