Historical Context

In October 2009 the Indian government approved a large-scale anti-Maoist offensive, later called Operation Green Hunt, tasking the Central Reserve Police Force and its Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) with sweeping Chhattisgarh’s Red Corridor.
