History

In 2003 OM merged with Finland’s Helsinki Stock Exchange, creating OMHEX, which rebranded as OMX in 2004. OMX expanded by buying the Copenhagen Stock Exchange for €164 million in January 2005 and later added other Nordic markets. Nasdaq incorporated OMX in February 2008, giving it a Nordic platform that underlies today’s 2026 market-consolidation strategy.
