Summary

Jets will play Sunday without nose tackle T'Vondre Sweat because of a knee injury.
Ashton Jeanty claimed the Jets have “a couple of guys … that don’t want to tackle.”
Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick said the team will ignore Jeanty’s remarks and simply do their jobs.
Rookie edge rusher David Bailey, team leader with 5.5 sacks, is doubtful with a strained groin.

History

The Jets’ 1999 season—marked by owner Leon Hess’s death, Bill Parcells’s final year, and an injury-ridden roster that fell to an 8-8 record—triggered an ownership change to Woody Johnson and a rebuilding phase. Echoing that pattern, the 2024 squad now loses nose tackle T’Vondre Sweat (2.5 sacks) and edge rusher David Bailey (5.5 sacks) amid locker-room tension, suggesting another overhaul.
