History
Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign showed how social-media posts could dominate a presidential race; he garnered almost $2 billion in free media and occupied more than a quarter of nightly news coverage. That precedent informed rapper Nicki Minaj’s October 2026 X post calling New York Gov. Kathy Hochul “evil” to back Republican Bruce Blakeman, echoing the viral-insult tactic.
